How to get to the island ...
By plane: The island is served by the International Airport of Kavala. The airport "Alexander the Great" in Chrissoupoli is 30 km east of Kavala. The airport is 13km from Keramoti, where ships will take you to the island's capital.
By car: There are excellent roads connecting all major cities in the region. Approximately 2 hours (165kms) needed to reach someone at the port of Kavala by car from Thessaloniki. It is about the same time from here as the last European city to the east, Alexandroupolis (174kms).
Ferryboat: Ships connecting the island to Kavala (1 hour) and Keramoti (30 minutes).
By Bus (Coach): You can reach Kavala from Athens and Thessaloniki to Kavala Bus.
By train: You can use the Greek railways to travel to the Xanthi Drama. The trip takes approximately 7.5 hours from Athina.Ftanontas Drama or blonde gets the bus to Kavala Keramoti.
On the island: There are daily buses that serve all the villages. The 100km road network is in very good condition.
